SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
DESCRIPTION
The aim is to disseminate and discuss newest developments in
Riemannian geometry and generalizations, geometric structures, global analysis,
variational analysis, geometric methods in physics, geometric theory of
nonlinear partial differential equations, and related areas.
This will be the 9th meeting in a series organized by czech
universities every three years since 1980. By end of April, approximately 200
participants from 30 countries are pre-registered (see the conference webpage http://www.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~dgac/).
A meeting
of the Editorial Board of the journal Differential Geometry
and its Applications will take place during the conference. At the moment the
following 12 foreign members of the Editorial Board promised to come: D.

CALL FOR
CONTRIBUTIONS & ABSTRACTS
All
participants are encouraged to submit a talk or a poster. The chairmen of
sections reserve the right to select contributions for oral presentation. If
you have not announced the title of your contribution yet, do it in the
registration form below (by May 31), please.
If you have not sent your abstract yet, do so definitely by June 30,
please.
PROCEEDINGS
Participants are invited to submit their contribution to the conference
Proceedings that will be subject of a regular peer review procedure. The
Proceedings will be published after the conference in printed and electronic
(within the EMIS Electronic Library of the European Mathematical Society)
versions. All submitted papers should be in TeX.
CONFERENCE VENUE
The
conference venue is the Hotel Krystal in Prague. All lectures will take place
in this hotel, a ***accommodation in single and double rooms and full board is
provided during the conference. There is a possibility of cheap accomodation in
student’s dormitories (double, triple rooms) in 30 minutes walking distance
from the hotel (or 20 minutes by public transport).
ARRIVALS,
DEPARTURES, TRANSPORT
The arrival
day is Sunday, August 29, 2004, the departure day is Saturday 4 September
2004. In the case of earlier arrivals
or later departures, accommodation in the hotel is also possible. Please
announce the dates of your arrival/departure in the registration form below (by
May 31).
Arrival by
plane: Prague can be reached by international flights from all over the world.
The hotel Krystal is approx. 10km from the airport Prague-Ruzyne and can be
easily reached by taxi (10 minutes) or Prague public transport (20 minutes).
Arrival by
train: there are convenient train connections from Vienna, Bratislava, Warsaw,
Berlin, Dresden, Nuernberg, Munich. From the main railway stations, the hotel
Krystal can be reached by taxi (15 minutes) or public transport (30 minutes).
Arrival by
car: The hotel Krystal is located next to the Highway No.7 (direction Airport,
Chomutov, Chemnitz) – Evropska Street. Parking is possible on a street in front
of the hotel (free of charge) or in a protected parking lot of the hotel (100
CZK=3 EUR per night).

information about transport to the hotel will be given in the 3rd
announcement and on the conference webpage.

The
conference fee covers:
Please,
compute your bill by adding accomodation
+ board + conference fee. In the case you plan to arrive or leave
earlier or later, your accomodation or board fee changes – just add or subtract
the appropriate number of extra daily rates. The number of full board can be
only reduced, not extended (the food during extra days is on your own
expenses). Send the total sum to our bank account (see below).

In all
cases, don’t forget to fill in the variable symbol 4019 and/or the message
“DGA”. Please note that the conference fee changes if paid before/after June
30.
You can
also pay on place during the Conference, but in cash only (in czech crowns or
euro). Credit cards are not accepted by the organizers. You can, of course, pay
for the hotel accomodation by a credit card, but a notably higher price.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The
Conference budget allows a limited support in the form of a fee reduction
(approximately to one half of the total, available only for students,
post-docs, and young researchers. The request for the reduction of the fee must
be delivered to the organizers before May 31, 2004, and should involve the
abstract of the contribution and should be supported by the applicant’s CV and
possibly a letter of recommendation. The organizing committee reserves the
right to decide on the individual applications. The decision will be
communicated by June 14.
No other
form of financial support can be given.
SOCIAL PROGRAM
Wednesday
(September 1) afternoon is free. We will offer the participants among others an
evening steamboat trip on the river Vltava with dinner.
