Election of the Dean's candidate for the term 2020-2024
I would like to thank all members of the academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, who have supported my nomination to the office of the Dean of the Faculty. My thanks go also to the members of the Academic senate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, who have voted for me in such a convincing way.
M. Rokyta, April 8 and April 30, respectively
If I am elected the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics for the term 2020-2024, I would propose that the following persons stand as Vice-Deans candidates:
Vice-Dean for Research and International Affairs
prof. RNDr. Zdeněk Doležal, Dr. | (School of Physics) |
Vice-Dean for Student Affairs
doc. Mgr. Michal Kulich, Ph.D. | (School of Mathematics) |
Vice-Dean for Education
doc. RNDr. Vladislav Kuboň, Ph.D. | (School of Computer Science) |
Vice-Dean for Development
prof. RNDr. Ladislav Skrbek, DrSc. | (School of Physics) |
Vice-Dean for Physics | |
prof. Ing. Jan Franc, DrSc. | (School of Physics) |
Vice-Dean for Computer Science
prof. RNDr. Jiří Sgall, DrSc. | (School of Computer Science) |
Vice-Dean for Mathematics
prof. RNDr. Vít Dolejší, Ph.D., DSc. | (School of Mathematics) |
Vice-Dean for Public Relations
doc. RNDr. Martin Vlach, Ph.D. | (School of Physics) |
The proposed team of Vice-Deans of the possible future management of Faculty of Mathematics and Physics consists thus includes four members of the current management. The other four Vice-Dean candidates have not been members of the management of the faculty yet, but all of them have an experience with leading departments. The individual Schools of the faculty are represented in the proposed team of Vice-Deans in the ratio of 4:2:2. None of the four Vice-Deans I asked to continue in office have served in their Vice-Dean’s positions for the whole 8 years: the position of Vice-Dean for Public Relations was established just only 4 months after Dean prof. J. Kratochvíl started his first term, and the other three Vice-Deans replaced their predecessors during that period (prof. Z. Němeček was replaced by prof. L. Skrbek, doc. P. Kolman by doc. V. Kuboň, and doc. O. Čepek by prof. J. Sgall). I would also like to use the same approach the case of the Vice-Dean for Development. Prof. L. Skrbek agreed that he would continue in his office for some additional period, and during the first two years of the mandate of the new management a new person would be nominated for this position.
In addition to this management of the Faculty (which includes the Dean, Vice-Deans and the Head of Administration of the Faculty, Ing. Antonín Líska), I intend to set up an Extended Dean's Advisory Board, whose members will be (among others) coordinators of individual areas important for the Faculty. The exact composition of the Extended Advisory Board (EAB, or RKD in Czech) will be negotiated later, especially with the team of the above-mentioned Vice-Dean candidates and also with possible RKD members.
