Guidelines
- Registration: If you want to participate at DDS-M presenting a lecture or a poster, please register using the registration form on this website as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday May 28, 2023, 23:59. Participants wishing to have both a poster and a lecture or more posters, please register multiple times - once for each of the activity. The number of different contributions is more important to us than the number of participating persons.
- Abstracts: The registration does not include a requirement to send the abstract of your presentation immediatelly, a title (of the lecture or the poster) is sufficient. At this stage, we mainly want to determine the number of participants. However, we ask all the participants to send their abstracts by Sunday June 4, 2023, 23:59, to the address knobloch@karlin.mff.cuni.cz, so that we can prepare and print the Book of Abstracts in advance. The abstract of the lecture should be written in English, the size of about one paragraph in LaTeX. We do not require abstracts for posters, but if you characterize a poster in one or two sentences, then each such annotation can be included in the Book of Abstracts, too.

Presentations: The program
consists of contributions of the participants in form of presentations of their results. The language of presentation is
English for all of the
participants, both for the practice reasons and also because some persons in
the audience may not understand other language than English. The length of each
contribution will be determined according to the number of participants. Nevertheless, we suppose that it should be 20 minutes. We add 5 minutes for
discussion after each presentation. If there is no discussion, there will be a
short break before the next contribution begins which can be used for
refreshment.
Remember that the lecture should preferably introduce the topic of your doctoral research, especially to younger students. Therefore, please gear the presentation in such a way that it is accessible to someone who does not know anything about your topic yet. Please try not to overwhelm the listeners with all the complexities and problems which you have encountered during your research. Do not prepare a lecture that would be appropriate for a professional conference with auditorium full of experts. Please take into account that some of the listeners are likely to have only a bachelor's knowledge and therefore your topic might be beyond their comprehension. Do not be afraid to spend a considerable amount of time with introductory and motivating remarks. Also, avoid complicated technical details when presenting your results.
- Posters: A specific time slot of the day will be reserved for posters. This part of the event will take place in the hallway. Poster discussions can be led in any language understood by all people present at the moment. It will be quite important that the presenters are positioned near their posters during the time specified for the session. Please follow the Program link for more information.
- Refreshments: Small refreshments will be available throughout the day.
