Conditions for exams

1. To be allowed to pass the exam, the student have to be enroled for this course in this semester and he/she have to gain the credit in advance.

2. The exam is done in the oral form. Student randomly chooses a set of questions, he/she will prepare the answers (usually in a written form). Then he/she will explain the answers to the examiner, who will evaluate the answers and award points to the students.

3. The exam can be in Czech or in English, according to the choice of the student.

4. Each set of exam questions is composed according to the following scheme:

  • A “difficult theorem” (30 points) - statement and proof of a given theorem.
  • Two “easy theorems” (30 points) - statement and proof of two given theorems. One can get at most 15 points for each of them.
  • A “problem” (30 points) - solution of a given problem.

5. The list of the relevant theorems for exam questions is here. In case only a part of the theorem was proved during the lectures, only that part will be explicitly tested. Anyway, if a proof of the remaing part is published at the lecture notes, students are expected to know at least a basic scheme of the relevant part of the proof.

6. In some cases, obvious from the context, the answer to a question on a theorem should contain definitions of necessary notions or a description of the construction of the relevant objects.

7. The “problem” in a set of questions may be an excercise to compute something, an exercise concerning application of some theorems or one of several questions testing the understanding to the notions and theorems.

8. Evaluation:
Evaluation table for Master and Bachelor students
       the score ≥75: excellent (1)
      60 ≤ the score <75: very good (2)
      45 ≤ the score <60: good (3)
       the score <45: fail (4)
Evaluation table for PhD students:
       the score ≥55: pass
       the score <55: fail

9. The dates of exams are announced in SIS, where the students should register.

10. Depending on the current epidemiologic situation, on current measures of the government, the university and the faculty, the examination may be done either in the usual way in a given lecture room or remotely (using zoom or other platform).
